SIPtemberfest (also known as Mad River Glen Brewfest) is Vermont's self-described "Best Little Beer Fest," held annually at Mad River Glen ski area in Fayston. Founded in 2008 by three friends who wanted to bring a beer fest to the Mad River Valley, the event intentionally keeps its size small — with only about 24 breweries and roughly 800 tickets available.
This intimate scale means lines are never too long and attendees can meet and talk to the actual brewers. The festival runs from 1-5 PM on a Saturday in September. The 2026 edition is scheduled for September 19. The event lost its 2020 edition to COVID but returned strong, celebrating its 17th anniversary in 2025.
SIPtemberfest was founded in 2008 when three beer-loving friends decided to create a festival that captured the spirit of the Mad River Valley — intimate, community-driven, and surrounded by Vermont's Green Mountains. Held at Mad River Glen, the legendary skier-owned cooperative ski area known for its "Ski It If You Can" ethos, the festival absorbed that same independent character.
Rather than growing into a massive event, the organizers deliberately kept SIPtemberfest small — capping attendance at around 800 and limiting breweries to about 24. This approach earned it the affectionate title of "the Best Little Beer Fest in Vermont." The event lost its 2020 edition to COVID but has continued to thrive, maintaining its reputation as one of the most enjoyable and personal beer festivals in New England.
