Hilo Brewfest is the Big Island's premier craft beer and food festival, organized by the Rotary Club of Hilo and held at the Wainaku Executive Center overlooking Hilo Bay. Now in its twelfth year, the festival features craft beers from local Hawaiian and mainland breweries, presenting over 70 individual flavors for sampling. The 2025 edition takes place on Saturday, July 12. General admission tickets are $75 with unlimited sampling. Designated Driver tickets are $50. All attendees must be 21+ with valid ID. There is no parking at the venue — a free bus shuttle runs from the Hilo Civic Butler Building.
The Hilo Brewfest was launched in 2013 by the Rotary Club of Hilo, one of Hawaii's most storied service organizations — chartered in 1920, it is the second oldest Rotary Club in the state. The club saw an opportunity to create a summer event celebrating the Big Island's growing appreciation for craft beer while raising funds for community projects. They found the perfect venue in a waterfront location overlooking Hilo Bay, where the natural beauty of the island becomes part of the festival experience.
From its inaugural year, the Brewfest embraced a relaxed Big Island sensibility that sets it apart from larger festivals. With over 70 craft beer varieties — from local Hawaiian breweries to mainland favorites — the event strikes a balance between discovery and familiarity. The no-parking policy, addressed by a free shuttle service, keeps the event safe and communal. Over twelve years, the Hilo Brewfest has become one of the most popular summer events on the Big Island, with live music by Hawaiian artists like Sudden Rush and food from local vendors completing the experience.
